Training Ride 2 - London to Brighton (60 miles approx)

With legs sufficiently recovered from the previous weekend's endevours (seeTraining Ride - Numero Uno ! (Sunday 11th Jan) and buoyed by the recruitment of our new team mates (welcome Hayley & Jess !) Team Human Science took on the south downs and the bright lights of Brighton.

Normally a great ride with breathtaking views, boy was this tough!! Overnight's torrent of rain did little to ease the pre-ride jitters. Thankfully morning came and the rains passed.....

Twickenham to Farthing Downs navigated (Well done "Garmin" mark!), the rise to Turners Hill gave the team their first opportunity to find their climbing legs

A quick stop at the Crown for Refreshments shouts of "We don't do cake" were met with looks of astonishment and horror by the team, the hospitable staff redeemed themselves with endless pots of tea.

Refreshed and re-invigorated, the much feared Ditchling Beacon beckoned (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ditchling_Beacon), I think all will agree much work needed, hill reps anyone? Tom taking the title of "Grimper", Mark of "Whimper" on this occasion.

Team Demolish the Beacon !

The tough cross-winds on top of the downs tested every inch of the team's riding ability and mental resolve, a quality which the team will need plenty of come June and a date with the rockies!!

Ride of the day goes to Tom who climbed like a "Demon" and descended like "Bambi on Ice". He learned that the team consists of 4 people not him and his ego

Lesson Heeded !
